We spent a good portion of the morning cleaning our harvest yield. After all the students were given the opportunity to vote on what we should do with all of the vegetables and fruits from our garden, it was decided that we clean, cook and prepare food for Fredericton's Community Kitchen.
We set to work in our classroom and the KCS kitchen. We were fortunate to have the expertise of Sharon Black, Cheryl Grant and Norma Duplain in our kitchen. We learned a tremendous amount about produce, but also about giving back to our community and taking an active role in supporting others.
CBC even showed up to film a small piece that appeared on the 6:00 news. http://kingsclear.nbed.nb.ca/
Terry Seguin also had Mr. M in to interview him about the wonderful opportunity we had. http://www.cbc.ca/informationmorningfredericton/2012/09/18/gardening-project/
Please take a look at our pictures. We're sorry we didn't have more of the preparing stage but we were just too busy cleaning, cooking, and community giving! You're more than welcome to follow the links above and either watch or listen to CBC's coverage of our busy harvest!
